The Responder Life Peer Mentor Training is designed to equip first responders with the awareness and skills to provide sustained support to peers. This training addresses emotional, psychological, spiritual, and physical health. Each mentor will be prepared to intervene at critical moments as well as identify proactive solutions associated with issues endemic in the first responder community. This one-day, stand-alone workshop represents the first of five competency areas leading to a certificate of completion.
Introduction to Peer Mentoring & Life Plan Development
Effective engagement in a helping incident requires self-awareness on the part of the mentor. Understanding our own strengths, weaknesses, self-limiting behavior, experiences, values, and purpose are vital to remaining fully present to those seeking guidance. When we take the time to intentionally invest in our most important priorities and relationships, we can more successfully assist others.
This practical workshop will help you:
- Understand the key characteristics of a peer mentor
- Know why your intervention as a peer is often the most effective way to address common challenges
- Develop an integrated Life Plan that aligns professional and personal priorities
- Learn how to implement a Life Plan with accountability that will make it stick
